Snow Day

Lubbock gets a little colder than central Texas...and we love it!  (not the wind and dirt so much...but the cold yes)  Last night texts and emails came saying that church was cancelled.  Apparently freezing rain plus snow on top does not make for a great driving situation.  A lesson we learned well back in Iowa.  This morning the kids were OVER the MOON when they woke up to white stuff outside!  As soon as they could they changed into some snow gear and made their way out.  Love seeing their excitement and red cold faces.  Spencer asked where Santa was...crazy kid. He aslo wrote a note to Jack Frost thanking him for the snow....someone may have watched Rise of the Guardians one to many times!

William the smart kid he is opted to stay inside, snuggle, and eat some breakfast!  He's a genuis I tell ya!

Thanksgiving 2013

This year for Thanksgiving we decided to do something a little different.  Instead of spending days & hours in the kitchen baking and cleaning we thought we'd let someone else do the work.  We went to a hotel here in town, The Overton, and partook of their Thanksgiving Buffet.  The food was much better in theory...but coming home to a clean kitchen was pretty amazing.  The kids thought it was fun and LOVED eating from the dessert buffet.  Not sure that this will be a new tradition.  But for our first Thanksgiving in Lubbock...it will be memorable!!

Baby Willer's 8 months

8 months with sweet baby William in our life.  What did we do without him (oh ya...sleep)?! We ALL love this bundle of chunky goodness.  Whenever we go out I usually get some comment about his hair..."oh you have a red head!".  Ha...the jokes on them...I got TWO.  My bookends.  William lights up when anyone talks to him.  He's usually easy to make giggle.  He isn't super stable yet will sitting up but he's slowly getting there.  Just today I laid him on the floor, left the room to grab something, and when I came back he had pushed himself up in to a sitting position (kinda).  He rolls, gets up on his hands and knees, wiggles himself backwards, has 2 bottom teeth, loves to feed himself baby puffs, and not surprisingly LOVES to eat.  He is a momma's boy...if he sees me he wants me to hold him.  Most days I love it, but sometimes I just need him to be content in his saucer.  He isn't my best napper or sleeper but I am grateful for what he does do.  Recently I took him in for an appointment and he weighed 18. something pounds.  Doctor just said, "big boy!" I love this baby.  He is sweet and squishy and mine.  Happy 8 months Will...

Baby Pumpkin, Ninja Turtle, Vampire, Ninja, Pirate, and Princess...we LOVE Halloween time!  We enjoyed school costume parades, ward trunk-or-treating, and trick-or-treating around our neighborhood.  Happy Halloween!!!

Grandma's Visit

In October I was so very lucky to have my mom come out and visit for 2 weeks!  It was wonderful.  It was her first trip to see us in Lubbock and I was so excited to show her around and see where we were calling HOME.  We got SO much done in those two weeks...crafting, decorating, organizing, shopping, cleaning and more!  I can't believe how much more we got done with having 2 of us.  It was so nice to have another set of hands to hold the baby, fold laundry, load and unload dishes, and help the kids after school.  I tried to convince her not to EVER leave.  Her visit was exactly what I needed right then.

 Mom was here for her birthday so we were able to spoil and celebrate her.  We blew up balloons, ate a special Chick-fil-a breakfast and spent the day together.  That night (Friday) we kept with Fluhman tradition and had pizza and a movie.  Instead of the traditional birthday cake Mom opted for an ice cream sundae bar...the kids thought it was SO COOL.  Later the next week was the school book fair & family fun night.  Mom and I took the kids.  There were games, balloon animals, and face painting.  The kids thought it was pretty special to show Grandma their new school.

Grandma got to spend lots of time with this little man.  She changed MANY MANY diapers (thank you) and got him ready for bed most nights.  They spent lots of snuggle time in his room and Grandma got to use those messy baby meal time feeding skills!  It was SO VERY appreciated.  As anticipated those 2 weeks flew by too fast.  Thankfully though while she was here we scheduled and booked her tickets for her next visit.  We are ALL already counting down till Grandma comes again!

Pirate Day

National Pirate Day!?!  Really?  Krispy Kremes had a promotion that if you dressed like a pirate they would give you a free dozen donuts.  Thank you Spencer...the whole family appreciated your sacrafice!

William 6 months

William Davis is 6 months old!  Time has flown and this little chunk continues to melt my heart.  Thankfully Will has mellowed out a lot in his "old" age.  His face lights up with smiles and he makes the best cooing babbling sounds.  Recently he has started squealing.  He can roll multiple times in a row to get across the room.  He has yet to cut any teeth but that doesn't stop him from loving his rice cereal and apples/pears.  He LOVES playing in the saucer and is our only baby who has sucked their thumb.  When he goes to sleep/nap he grabs his blanket...pulls it up to his cheek and pops his thumb in.  He does this EVERY time like clock work!  He still wakes up at night for nursing.  The kids love making him laugh...peek a boo or jumping up and down are the usuals.I get lots of comments on his red hair.  Sometimes I hear he looks like Natali and sometimes people say the can see some of Spencer.  I think he just looks perfect.

 William also sucks on his lip...I kind of think it's the cutest thing ever!

He can't get enough of his toes.  He curls up into a little ball and tries to get them all the time...while I am changing his diaper, getting his clothes on, or loading into the car seat {super helpful}.  I sure love this little bundle of sweetness.  He is such a joy.  I find myself holding him longer during our night time feedings.  I let him fall back asleep on me and I just sit there in the recliner with him.  It's one of the only times he let's me snuggle him.  I LOVE my sleep but I also know this stage will pass and once it's gone I wont get another one.  I love the feel of his squishy little diapered bum and the way he tries to grab my face.  I love how his face lights up and he starts squirming when I walk in to his room to get him out of the crib.  I think he still smells like heaven.  I love everything about him...we all do!

Off to Preschool...{pass the tissues}

This little buddy of mine had his first day of preschool.  We've done co-ops and he has gone with me to a preschool I taught...but this was the first time I dropped him off.  With a stranger.  He acted like a pro.  Gave me a hug and walked in.  The kid was in the zone...he didn't even look back.  I stood there watching.  I was that mom that just couldn't leave.  Finally I left and then proceeded to cry my face off the whole way home.  This was so hard for me!  He has been my little shadow for so long.  I missed him.

When I picked him up he said he had a great time playing with friends, toys, and play dough!  They talked about colors...Spencer's favorite is blue. We celebrated his first day with a hot dog & "blue" water {powerade} at Sam's Club.  I sure that love little face!  I am SO not ready to even think about next year and kindergarten.

Back to School 2013

THE FIRST DAY...

We had a special breakfast of sugar {aka Trix, Cookie Crisp, and mini donuts} and introduced this years school year theme "Work will Win"...each year we pick a new theme.

Baby William...5 Months

This kid is a ball of chubby squishy softness.  At his check up he weighed 17.7 lbs 97%, and was 27% for height!  He is the sweetest thing EVER!  I could kiss that face all day long.

Isaac's 6th Birthday

For Isaac's 6th birthday he asked for a Despicable Me cake.  Thanks to pinterest...this is what I produced...not too shabby.  We ate breakfast and opened presents.  That afternoon we went and saw the new Despicable Me 2 movie & went out to dinner at Chuy's {Isaac's pick}.    It was a great day celebrating our sweet little bub's.

Natali's Baptism

With the move this summer we decided that it would be the easiest to baptize Natali in Utah.  It was such a special day, July 20th.  Natali was baptized in the Bountiful Tabernacle.  In the same font that her Uncle Spence was baptized.  We were blessed to have so much family and friends there.  Grandma Gerry, Great Grandma Dove, and the Kings were in Park City already so it made it easy for them to come down and be there as well.  I gave a little talk about baptism and Grandma Gerry talked about the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Dad perfromed the baptism and confirmation. Since we were already gathered we took the opportuntiy to bless William as well.  Such a sweet baby and beautiful blessing.  It was reported that Will just sat there staring at everyone making little cooing sounds.  I had a hard time paying attention since Spencer was detterminded to be a little turd!  {Loved that he kept trying to lift my skirt up while I was up front giving my talk!}  After we all went back up to Fluhmans and ate, celebrated, and talked.  It felt like the perfect day!
