Halloween 2011

Halloween this year brought a  few TRICKS along with the treats.  I got sick the day of trunk-or-treating.  Natali hurt her foot and couldn't go to the trunk-or-treat with her dad & brothers (imagine the most irrational and overly dramatic 2 hour meltdown on how her life was over).  On Halloween, Monday, Natali woke up sick (aka. the barfs).  Thankfully the bug that was going around was a very quick bug.  Once you barfed you felt pretty good just a few hours later.  So by Halloween evening we gave her the OKAY to go out and get some candy. This years costumes:

My Hero's

Superman & Buzzlight Year to the resuce!  These two little guys are my little sidekicks.  On Friday's we go to music makers and this week we got all dressed up for our "Halloween" music makers.

We had "superhero" dancing... 

We listened to "spooky" stories... 

We collected candy... 

We played with friends... 

And we ATE candy!

At our ward Halloween Carnival they had a photo area set up.  I'm so glad they did.  We actually got a family picture.  We're not all looking in the camera, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Music Makers

Every Friday a SUPER talented girl in our ward puts on a Music Makers class.  It's wonderful.  She could charge big bucks, it's that's awesome, but (thankfully for our bank account) she doesn't!  Today we went and the kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes for some singing and trick-or-treating.

Halloween Fashion Show

Today we did a trail run of our Halloween costumes, minus hair and make up.  We had a mini Halloween Parade through the house.  Fairy, Pumpkin, and Cowboy!

I found this site so EXTREMLY helpful I just had to share.  Over at Oopsey-Dasiy she has complied a "packet" full of halloween ideas to do with your kids.  She has it all ready so all you have to do is download the packet and print off the stuff you want to use.  Head over there a take a look your self!  The teacher in me is in HEAVEN.

Halloween Prep

Despite the fact that it doesn't feel like Fall here in Texas we are getting ready for the on slaught of festivities and feasts.  This month we have been getting ready for Halloween.  When I went to get out the decorations to decorate the house I realized I really don't have much "Halloween" stuff.  More of just "Fall" and pumpkins.  So I found this little project to make.  A black burlap wreath.

For FHE we painted pumpkins.  Always a favorite.  We let Spencer watch.  He was slightly frustrated.

We had some cute friends invite us over for a Halloween Haunted House party.  It was so fun.  It's always nice to hang out with friends and spice up a typical Friday night at home with a movie.  (majority of photos stolen from Shauni's blog...thanks Shauni!)

The kids are anxioulsy awaiting more Halloween fun and getting dressed up this year.  At least once a day Isaac goes through the list of what everyone is going to be.  He feels it is important to share this information with all cashiers and random strangers we see in the stores.   Silly boy.

Feeling the Craft

So I don't proclaim to be Martha by any stretch of the imagination, but I sure thought this Halloween banner turned out cute. And there is no one at home to give me my desired oohs & ahhs! Instead I get, "why did you do that Mom?" Thanks Natali, thanks!

Haunted Houses

We've had a few days of being inside due to the rain & cold. I found these foam haunted house stickers last week at Wal-Mart and they have proven to be a good investment. Isaac was more intrigued with sticking them on and then immediately pulling them off. Natali really loved it and asks multiple times a day to do them. I love little kid crafts (I hope this counts as a craft).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Selfishly I am kinda relieved to have Halloween over. Natali had plenty of chances to wear her costume this week and we have way to much sugar in our home. Don't get me wrong, I loved every minute of it, but I'm ready for a little detox before the next holiday hits. I'm still waiting for Natali to come off her sugar/party high!
